Little Bay Upper Level

Did you ever come across a place where deep down you just don't want to tell anyone about because it's your new found secret?! Well, this is that kind of place. Local to south Florida, we were looking for a last minute mid-summer keys getaway. Forgot it was mini-lobster season so with limited availability up popped Little Bay. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, breathtaking bay view and "private" for the most part. It's a complex of sorts and we had it all to ourselves as all renters left on Saturday. Very clean, solid AC (imperative this time of year), all the necessary bells and whistles for a week's stay. We brought our own extra beach towels (good move). No pool but the mini lagoon surrounded by dockage was perfect. The guests who left had two boats they were able to secure in the little water cul-de-sac. We liked it better when they left as we were able to swim in the lagoon then. Otherwise the bay area of the seawall was good swimming too. Wish they had a stone step walk out on the dock. The dock ladders are difficult for the elderly. Water was not too deep. Great Chickee Hut for outdoor waterside dining. Little Bay is located where could walk to all the fun stuff (around MM 82). There's a little French Pastry shop across the street to die fo. At least two restaurants and three bars you could crawl home from. It's not a new home. There are no designer bedspreads and pillows, but the price to rent reflects that. If you can, take the upstairs over the downstairs because in our opinion the view and privacy is great from the porch as you are a little more removed from others who might be enjoying the property with you. Heck, if you can afford, rent the whole complex. Fully enclosed, secure gated compound and they are DOG friendly, to friendly dogs obviously. $200 non-refundable pet fee pinched a bit but happy to find owners who think fido is part of the family vacation too.

Of all the places we’ve stayed in 10+ years of visiting the Keys, this is our favorite. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Little Bay- Upper. The view from the porch is gorgeous and we watched sunsets from the point. The location was perfect for standup paddleboarding with our dog. I snorkeled off the dock and saw amazing parrotfish, a huge hogfish, sponges, and lots of other cool things. The location was very convenient to a number of great restaurants. We especially loved that Little Bay is dog-friendly. The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The yard is large and beautifully landscaped. We’re already planning to return next year.
